4:07:23 AM

Night escapes itself, giving way to a kaleidoscopic vision of the Northern Lights. Soaring hues of amber, pearl and aqua evade much of humanities eyes as they lay dormant in their beds. The clarity of the scene unbeknownst to those experiencing sensory deprivation as another beautiful day lies ahead.

The last cycle of REM sleep slowly winds down, as reality begins to overtake the fantasy world left in your brain. A piano trudges onwards out of tune, struggling to form an identity when your dream lacked one. More than that, this somber refrain reflects all loss while witnessing a better future.

An elder awakens with no sense of time and space. Her worries are reduced to rubbish as the hazy past of thriving life crackle, fidget and flinch as her brain's attempt to find balance. The eery emptiness seeks to discover an area of contemplation, as she reaches her balcony to watch the sun rise.

Wisdom tells the weary brain that sun is around the corner. The drapes lay bare, thin, and transparent, eager to greet you with a warm light that slowly moves up your body. Out of respect to the night and acceptance of the day, slow rattles of humanity begin sweeping the dusty city streets.

Peace and serenity glide in unison, aware of the embracing warmth soon to arrive. The trials of night, both outside and in, have passed, a reflective ode to all that we've accomplished. The early morning farmers replace the night owls, with the residue of tempo being replaced with quiet passages.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Goodbye night, hello day. Half-sedated bodies collectively rise, the jittery excitement of sadist alarm clocks the cause. The panic of an awakened state causes the mind to think two things at once; immediate longing of tranquility and hopefulness of a ravishing day.

The outlook of the next 16 hours starts with what to wear, a way to welcome others or push them away. A cluttered closet teeming with selections dwindle down to the same handful of shirts. Journeys, moments, twists have all happened whilst in these meaningful garments.

As do experiences worth forgetting or ones not worth remembering at all. The time you spent an entire weekend inside, staring at the stars on your walls, imagining the lives they've lived. This summer will be different, and today you'll go out and do something impeccable, mischievous and risky.

As the body settles, the bearing's of the mind still shaky, a morning run is what makes most sense. Out by the ocean or through the woods, a gentle percussion follows each footstep as you ponder what life means to you and to others. The mind travels with nothing to keep it company.

In the confines of your room a worn down journal lies unused in weeks, a sign that life hasn't exactly progressed. You sit, stare, and begin to write about those experiences which have altered you. The calming serenity of a sun bearing down on your neck allows your mind and emotions to open up.

The food cabinet reaches out to your rumbling stomach, luring you in with some tasty treats. As you sit eating at the counter, dressed in summer wear, a whistle emerges from your lips after every tongue-watering bite. The sound fills the kitchen as each creak and crack just so happens to fall in line.

6:10:45 AM

Silly antics cause your brain to seek out further justice, turning on some Saturday morning cartoons. A television set on the frits catches your favorite moments in perpetual stutter, occasionally lifting the curse only to capture another moment in time. You're weirdly entranced by this.

6:28:33 AM

The sights of glitchy monitors and tastes of a children's cereal haven crossed streams, causing a bonafide sugar rush. Free of all social constraints you dance along, and alone, to the growing collapse of your television. Theme songs from the 80's overlap as your mind begins to melt.

6:40:01 AM

The thought of society catches up to you. A step outside sees cars whiz by in a bustling intersection, trains squeaking to a stop to allow students a chance to ride, and bicyclists swerving in and out living dangerously. The interaction with this world and all its harmonized elements fascinates you.

The wantingness to conform has you stepping out into the sunlight, waltzing down a well-worn sidewalk with headphones in tow. The uniform chaos surrounds you, every person, a passing thought at most, steps around you as the rays of sunshine go right through you. The grandeur is picturesque.

A flock of birds glides across the sky, landing scattered across a nearby park. Investigating why exactly they chose this place has you discovering a pond, clear of moss and algae, and a bench overlooking it. You sit as birds chirp, squirrels run about, and a lone goose seeks to find a companion.

7:30:01 AM

Sunday service has just begun as the community comes together to cherish what they have. A special treat arrives in the form of a choir, singing the praises of oneself and each other, reaffirming us why exactly we're here. A local rapper joins in, nullifying any internal scorn with a heartfelt verse.

Within the city's downtown metro area civilization harbors seemingly endless citizens. Emerging out of narrow alleyways, subway tunnels and business buildings the rustle and bustle of a town that never sleeps moves onwards with each passing breath of energy. An inner voice hums the praises.

There's a lot to discover on vacation, and while an alarm clock won't be sure to wake you the chants of nearby street performers do. In perfect symmetry they invite you into their culture, the otherworldliness has you intrigued and curious, with endless opportunities to witness fascinating scenes.

Then there's the day you woke up hungover, still reeling from whatever drug consumed you. You dream of Constantinople forgetting you're actually there. What was once beautiful has turned creepy. A night you want to remember, a morning you wish to forget.
