Rolling tumbleweeds pass across a barren stretch of highway in the midwest as dusk sets in, no working lights in sight. A car blurs by as friends have set their sights on a cross-country adventure, one that never stops, only shifts on who's driving. The road is so similar the minutes loop endlessly.

One sits in the back contemplating his choice to partake. The burdens of his life back home sent him to reckless inhibitions, causing his first devious exercise in fleeing the confines of his past. As the sun sets in the distance he looks out the window, concerned but hopeful, about his future.

His buddy jammed up against him senses a weariness, choosing to intervene between his battling thoughts to alleviate concerns and restore optimism. The two talk back and forth as he slowly comes to grips with the summer ahead, dropping dubious past actions for a life more fulfilling.

As the night begins to overtake day the friends fantasize about their eventual destination. Partying on the beach to a giddy local band, wearing hula skirts, brandishing tiki torches, and drinking out of a red cup, a miniature festival filled with dancing and gossiping explodes in one sect of the globe.

A hop, skip and a jump away from the party a pair of exhausted travelers relax in lounge chairs. The music's washed out, leaving the pleasant humming of background noise and guttural chatter that soothes the mind, body, and soul. There's tequila burrowed in the sand by them for good measure.

An area known for its kooky creatures is bound to have a cult tripping off unknown substances, and late at night, if you listen closely to the edge of the forest, you can hear the scattering echoes of their primordial recitation. They chant in unison a dawn of a new day, as the stars illuminate above.

It isn't just the adults that parade around a growing fire, this cult breeds its youth who dress in outlandish garments, hooting and hollering as the adults foretell of prophetic scriptures. The kids live in ignorant bliss, celebrating nothing in particular, happy to merely exist.

It's a Saturday night, retro night at the local rollerskating rink, which means crowds dressed in 70's attire ready to get their funk on. More than that though, the rink acts as a breeding ground for youths to meet strangers who are up to no good. Love stories emerge that are bound to end poorly.

We jolt back to the beach as fireworks launch up into the sky. People young and old gather to gaze upwards in awe of the spectacle, lighting up their intrigued eyes with flashing sparks. These fireworks, whether they want to or not, frees the mind to think about past memories long since forgotten.

Down at the college campus rowdy dorms unleash hell upon those walking outside, with bass booming as radio hits from today mix with those of recent years. One after another memorable songs erupt the crowd into mimicking frenzies, singing the hooks and parts that they'll never forget.

Some college friends who date back to middle school reminisce on their childhood in the 90's. TV cartoons, Disney movies, one-hit wonders, all helping the group to relive their nostalgia. The talk endlessly jumps from one memory to another, involving each and every instigating medium.

Living in these moments are a group of kids swerving up the suburban roads on their bikes, music pumping out of one's phone. Dressed in trendy outfits with flashy shoes, the cool kids aim their sights on a convenience store for some energy drinks and sugar-filled snacks to keep their night going.

They return to join the others, hidden in the weed smoke down in the basement. Contained rebellion as they remain on edge, praying their parents never find out. The music is playing low, with airy beats moving through the haze, as blunts get passed around, the ceiling fan keeping it all moving.

10:35:48 PM

The kids gossip about their futures as their senior year of high school just wrapped up. Some have high hopes, others, the more reserved ones, aren't quite sure yet. Either way, change is coming, and the best way to handle it is by facing it head on. Rap about getting yours plays on in the background.

There's always the late night blunt rides that make suburban kids feel badass, playing Hip-Hop curated out of the hood on full blast so others can hear. They don't speak, only listen and relax, as their high starts to wear off, moving through the streets, bothering those trying to sleep.

11:10:22 PM

For many, tonight's the night they've been looking forward to all year. A music festival coming to town, sporting all kinds of hype artists, new and old. Dressed in skimpy neon outfits, ready to trip and dance the night away, remembering only through blurry pictures taken along the way.

11:23:38 PM

An LCD light show overtakes the crowd as beaming multi-hued lasers skim listeners' heads, flashing along with the bass. Without the right precautions, an epileptic seizure is bound to occur somewhere. The DJ jives with the crowd, looping the best parts, over and over till they combust in elation.

11:38:05 PM

The rave has hit the middle portions as the awe begins to die down and the drugs begin to wear off. Best time for a thunderous banger, with bass that levels everything, as a looping Trap beat takes over. A well-known rapper enters, erupting the crowd, performing a previously unheard verse over it.

11:43:29 PM

Ravers are dropping left and right, being escorted out, or suffering relapsing spells as the music itself drawls to a finishing crawl. There's one last epic go around, but it's more to console their lost brethren than to take a crack at another hyperactive rendezvous. The moment to moment beast is an ode to the rave itself.

11:53:48 PM

On the other side of town, two lifelong friends have just admitted their love for each other. Driving through dimly lit city streets they play their favorite song as a new match made in heaven. The world is perfect, order is restored, and no one, as there's no one around, will ruin their night of ecstasy.
