With a margarita in one hand, today's vacation docket in the other, an umbrella deterring any strangers, a nice lounge out in the hammock is the right way to start the day. Well rested, filled with pep, the sun beaming down over your brim, all the making's of a fun-filled day in a tropical paradise.

On the city's exterior you hear a gathering rustle from its inhabitants. Unsure of their unusual behavior, and mildly annoyed at their interruptions, you seek to discover the answer. Looking through alleyways and street blocks you see a moving jamboree, with floats, confetti, a full marching band.

Vocals chirp off in the distance through a screeching megaphone. They're oddly intoxicating and fill the vibrant scene with life, as the collective movement of thousands of bodies of human creation pass over your head. To those sleeping in in the lofts of these city streets, today makes for quite an abnormal alarm.

With every vein pulsing with energy it's time to gallivant to the boardwalk; the rendezvous point for having fun. Cladly dressed ladies, goofballs swerving on motorized scooters, a contest winner showing off his super-sized panda stuffie, it seems like everywhere you turn memories are being made.

Under the deteriorating wood planks a group of paltry dressed beach bums play hacky sack, jamming to whatever's on the boom box. The music is inviting, as is the smell of pot looming over their heads. One mellow dude strums his guitar in a wicker chair as the others dance around a jumping ball.

One whiff of their scent sends you spiraling into their vision, a world where dark is filled with light and all is orderly. In our universe the symmetry and unified continuity would be seen as a detriment, but to them, in a perfect utopia, coming together in harmony nullifies any outside evildoers.

Floating above the wrongs make everything feel right. The clouds are weightless, and so are you, content with remaining in this 8-bit world if it means freedom. On your out-of-body trip every human appears ant-sized, stuck to the ground, their liberation hampered by the universe's rules.

1:20:49 PM

The trip wears off and you start freefalling to the surface, gravity taking ahold of your intentions to defy it. Thankfully, by fate, you splash down in a pool, surrounded by elitists sipping on fine dackery's, perched up on lounging chairs, and dancing to summer's latest and greatest mixtape.

A confrontation unfolds on the outskirts of town, as a chained man gets tongue-lashed by his significant other for ogling a passing stranger. After some flailing arms the man storms off, seeking refuge with a group of friends. Dozens welcome him and his wishful thinking of singularity.

They suspend disbelief for a moment, or many, and stack pitter-patter sounds over one another, joining each other in succession. Memory serves them right and, in perfect unison, they sing the chant of their childhood. Nonsensically leaning, the layered refrain sees them hoping for a better world.

A wild afternoon calls for a restful nap. The sun flutters through the open windows, with wind gently pushing through. Under your eyelids a play with colors, as red and orange interact in song and dance. It's tranquility amongst the chaos, with life slowing down only for you till you catch up.

2:09:12 PM

A late afternoon brunch with your grandparents seems like a good way to replenish your energy after a nap. They take you to a 50's diner where they ramble endlessly about their days of yore. Swing dancing, grub for less than a buck, and tunes remissed all on display in their rose-tinted glasses.

2:28:31 PM

One such memory is that of you, and more precisely your birth. It brings back fond memories of planning your childhood, cribs, rocking horses, and baby rattles all intact. Being impoverished never stopped them from giving you a wonderful beginning, one that you're infinitely grateful for.

They taught you, and continue to as the sun beams in through the half-lifted blinds, to see the best in the world and make the most of what you got. Rain might elevate sadness, but it also allows our Earth to stay hydrated. Beauty arises like a budding rose, so take negatives and run with them.

You leave the encounter and feel refreshed, inviting light, and with it a chance to profess infinite love. In a state of fleeting freedom, you commit to a crush the love you have. On this day, her reaction doesn't matter, as the weight of secrecy bearing down on you is released with a wave of exhilaration.

3:08:31 PM

Bouncing down the street you see a group of teens dressed in lavish garments. They belt feel good tunes out of their boom box while spinning their tops on broken down cardboard. The scene brings with it a sense of resiliency, overcoming unbearable odds to stay passionate and accepting.

3:19:02 PM

A buddy drives by in his busted up convertible, gesturing for you to join him. A slow cruise allows you to witness all sights and sounds. Children playing hopscotch, old men gossiping on the stoop, your radio's vibrations reaching those taking a stroll. A pulse moves through the city's veins.

3:29:11 PM

While outside the car moments are being made, the inside allows for some to reflect on previous ones. Pieces of time centered around the 90's is up for discussion, as outlandish fashion statements, primitive video game technology, and silly high school trends send you two into a giggling frenzy.

3:40:13 PM

We reminisce just as we pass the school. The cheerleaders are out in full garments practicing for the upcoming year. With a field to themselves they blare Pop tunes through the speakers, causing echoes to transfer through our windows. Provocative and noisy, the view is one plucked out of a teen flick.

3:53:07 PM

We decide to park and walk the broken down schoolyard where many of our fondest memories emerged. Our roots. The slide, tetherball pole, chainless basketball net, all still there. Witnessing our past become overgrown, you get a real sense of present and how far we've come.
